How to Add Light and Vibrance to Your Home In 3 Easy Steps

Posted on

Not everyone is lucky enough to have giant windows and lots of natural lighting in their homes – whilst there is no way to completely replace daylight, there are plenty of ways to brighten up a place! Many people fail to use what they already have in their homes, and often make little mistakes that make the space less bright. But the truth is you can truly do a lot even if you only have one window! So here is how to add light and vibrance to your home in 3 easy steps!

1. Start with a lighting source

The lighting source is extremely important, but it’s not everything – most people don’t have large windows, to begin with, and they certainly can’t just renovate the whole home and create bigger ones. That doesn’t mean that you can’t brighten up your space at all, all you have to do is plan things accordingly! Even if your only light source is a small window, what kind of curtain do you have?

This question is essential and it can make or break your whole space! There are many different types of curtains and blinds to choose from, as you can see from www.shuttercraft.co.uk, it all depends on your window and what you want to achieve. If your goal is to brighten up the space, light curtains should be your choice – preferably white ones so that the light bounces off of them. Get rid of heavy and dark blinds, as they only make the space more dull and dark, even if you sometimes want to completely close your windows, you can get white, wooden shades that do the job perfectly! You can always ask a professional and let them shoes the perfect blinds for your home!

2. Install a smart lighting system

Since you can’t choose your natural light source, you can only do so much with it – adding a smart lighting system on top of that is your next best option! First of all, replace all of your regular light bulbs with LED light bulbs as they are far superior in many ways. Starting from the obvious, they are more powerful and create a brighter surrounding – especially if you choose the blue or white hues over the regular yellow one. This automatically makes every space look brighter and lighter instantly!

Having one chandelier and calling it a day is not enough, even if your room is small, adding more lights is always a good idea! Instead of just installing another ceiling light, try to scatter them all across your room. Add a lamp or two, play around with fairy lights, and incorporate them into your decor.

This will brighten up the palace, but it will still have the cozy feeling! You can always make the room less bright at the end of the day, but making it brighter is the difficult part – so adding a smart lighting system is a good idea!

3. Don’t forget the furniture and decor

Furniture and decor can do a lot to your room, and with little adjustments, you can brighten up the space in no time. First things first, what is the color scheme of your space? Do you have a lot of muted or dull colors?

This can be a problem, not only does it make your room appear smaller it also makes it less bright no matter how good your lighting is! If possible, try to change the color of your walls. A nice shade of white can brighten up the place in no time! The furniture is also important if possible, switch to lighter colored furniture, and try to de-clutter the room as much as possible!

Also, the mirror hack is quite a popular one – you can add one large mirror or multiple smaller ones in order to brighten up the space. The light will reflect from them and give the illusion of a well-lit space! It can also make your space look bigger so that’s a plus as well! So you technically don’t have to do anything too dramatic to your space, it all comes down to making smart yet impactful choices along the way!

So regardless of whether you are living in a shoebox apartment or a large house – there are ways to make any space look bright and vibrant! Start with working with what you have, get rid of everything that might be dimming your space and you are good to go! You can always add smart lighting systems, mirrors, and other things to open up the shape more! All you have to do is plan it well and try until you are satisfied with the result!
